Throughout her career, Gao (she/her) has worked in organizations that break down systematic barriers and support students, particularly students of color, in their college and career journey. She has directly served students in the college research and application processes, managed multiple portfolios of scholarships worth thousands of dollars, and most recently worked as assistant director of the Century College TRIO ETS.
Gao’s love for education comes from her parents, who immigrated to the U.S. and understood that a college degree would open doors of opportunities. Gao graduated with her bachelor’s degree in social work and justice and peace studies at the University of St. Thomas. She went on to complete her master's degree in experiential education at Mankato State University and a certificate in college admission counseling at Hamline University.
During her free time, she loves to catch up on K-dramas and hang out with her two favorite dogs, Kira and Lily.
