How are students preparing for careers in our changing economy?
With widespread talent shortages and other economic shifts, many employers have dropped college degree requirements and are focusing instead on skills-based hiring or creating new training and credentialing pathways. These strategies can open doors much more quickly to high skill, living wage careers, as they don’t require the extensive time and financial investment required for four-year degrees.
How are these shifts changing our employment and education landscape? And more importantly, how are they impacting the ways that high school students are exploring and preparing for meaningful high skill, living wage careers?
Grab your lunch and join us for a one-hour lunch break conversation about these trends with leaders from RealTime Talent and ConnextMSP, along with Achieve program staff who are working with young people daily in exploring and planning for careers in this new economic climate.
Our presenters and panelists will include:
- Erin Olson, Real Time Talent director of strategic research
- leesha McKinzie Collins, ConnextMSP managing director
- Kelsey Massey, Achieve Twin Cities career and college readiness coordinator
- Talia Levin, Achieve Twin Cities Step Up youth services manager
Our event will be facilitated by Jeremiah Brown, Achieve Twin Cities senior director of partnerships and internships.
