Born and raised in Southside Minneapolis, Nicole (she/her) is a proud Roosevelt High School alumna who is passionate about advocating and empowering youth. She is a first-generation Chicana college graduate and earned her undergraduate degree in social work from Augsburg University. During college, her internship and volunteer experiences at La Oportunidad, Jeremiah Program and Roosevelt High School influenced her decision to work with young people.

Nicole formerly served at The Link as a truancy case manager for Be@School, which supports Hennepin County’s K-12 students and their families through early interventions that are collaborative and family-focused. In this role, Nicole identified barriers to school attendance and connected youth and their families with resources, staff and support as needed to get their attendance and academics on track.

Nicole loves being in nature, especially in the fall to feel grounded. She enjoys reading fiction, romance, and fantasy books, loves the Harry Potter and Marvel movies and especially loves watching Disney movies with her energetic and loving son. She also likes dancing with her family and friends at Zumba and enjoys being part of the Aztec dancing community.
