This year’s EDTalks season is focusing on Black and Brown voices in the K-12 education, equity and youth development spaces, and we’ve had a very dynamic year of programs with our virtual format. This fall, our first two events featured presentations by Michael Walker, Dr. Artika Tyner, Justice Alan Page and Neil Kashkari and focused on two pressing issues: championing Black student achievement and a proposed amendment to the Minnesota state constitution guaranteeing a "quality" education for all students. Our two upcoming winter EDTalks will address mental health in diversity and inclusion work, learning how to develop an Equity Leadership Identity, the importance of being culturally responsive in and out of the classroom, and creating opportunities to talk about race in school.
We’re now looking for four additional EDTalks presenters for our two final spring events, and once again invite speakers from BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) communities to apply to present on education, youth development and related topics with an equity lens.
Learn more and check out our EDTalks speaker info flyer, online application and videos from our past EDTalks. Don’t delay – our application deadline is January 3! All applications will be reviewed by our selection committee from AchieveMpls and The Citizen’s League. For more information or to suggest topics and speakers, contact Heidi D. Johnson at 612-455-1559. Thank you!
